This thing works fine, but my whole reason was to purchase it for my vista 64-bit. When it ask you which do you want to remove; remove the associate files with it. But I guessing I would have to wait for the 64-bit driver to come out. I have to install three software from the official site.First and Third step, go to the official site and search for the exact driver.First install the driver 'GUWA100U' for the adapter.
It should work. "Do Not remove Certify USB driver"Second install the driver from the CD that come with it. Now you are ready to use your wireless. If not, repeat steps. Run the program, and follow direction. It work okay on my window xp and vista 32-bit, but not on my 64-bit.
Restart Computer.Third install the driver 'GUWH104' for the USB HUB. Or it could be that you have the same OS as me. Am kind of pressuring them to release the 64-bit driver because if a device is not compatitable with different OS, they won't earn a business. It's kind of hard to get this thing to work correctly at first, but anyway, i did it. Now Uninstall it through control panel.
I also updated the driver, the bios, and tried it on both Vista and XP with the same result. It can also be used as a wired hub, so I decided to keep it just in case I needed to go wireless for something, but its kind of expensive for a simple 2.0 wired hub. I was excited about the potential for this product, but found in practice that the wireless connection was difficult to maintain. It's OK for occasional use, but not a long term solution for a USB connection due to its inconsistency. Too bad. For some reason it loses the connection and the USB transmitter must to unplugged and plugged back in to regain it. It thought my bluetooth keyboard and mouse might be intefering, but I tried it on a PC without bluetooth with the same result.
So I just threw away money on a product that claims to work on Vista. To all those out there looking at this product, it will not work on all versions of Vista. The 64 bit version of Vista will not allow it to install on my computer.
seriously first off if your not like in a foot range then its slow as hell to open a foolder feels like your opening a webpage. or better yet and get a plug in hub or find a wireless hub that works. im in iraq and i already broke a harddrive thru the iraq dust and not having a computer desk in our tents they take a beating so i saw this and with my extra money thought id get it even though i saw the reviews i was thinking im a computer tech i could get it to work. my iraq isp is faster then this thing and thats secondly if it even connects to the device which took me forever to adjust to connect too even one of my 3 hard drives (2 tb mirror raid 0 2 tb raid 1 stripe and a 50 gb) and most of the time when i opened up the hard drive the software would act as it was refreshing to show the hard drive wasnt there anymore.and last the dongle is huge i got this so i didnt break any more parts and this thing seriously is not a usb stick its like the size of five in one with a small pluggin making it easier to break it would be smart to add a male to female usb extnsion if you are going to get this so it doesnt break and so you can have it hanging right in front of the damn hub. im just going to wait till i get home and get a NASnow the company that sells this device is really good i must say and doont want this product too reflect on them there fast and the customer service is top notch and have made it so i can send in and get a refund with no questions asked.all in all this product is just annoying dont waste your time or money do yourself a favor and get a pluggable usb hub or a NAS. man was i wrong this is just a bad product. after hooking it up and downloading the drives which had me annoyed enough with our low bandwidth then trying to get this to work i wanted to break it.
Once you get used to it, I think you will find it very helpful and very convenient. The product USB HUB works well, I can even watch movies in my external drives anywhere in the room, but that's as far as it can go. The software is very annoying, you have to install a driver, and somehow, sometimes when I plug a USB cable directly to my laptop the HUB would itself get disconnected, and I would have to reconnect everything.
